BİR GÜNÜN SONUNDA ARZÛ
Yorgun gözümün halkalarında
Güller gibi fecr oldu nümâyân,
Güller gibi… sonsuz, iri güller
Güller ki kamıştan daha nâlân;
Gün doğdu yazık arkalarında!
Altın kulelerden yine kuşlar
Tekrârını ömrün eder i’lân.
Kuşlar mıdır onlar ki her akşam
Âlemlerimizden sefer eyler?
Akşam, yine akşam, yine
akşam
Bir sırma kemerdir suya
baksam;
Üstümde semâ kavs-i
mutalsam!
Akşam, yine akşam, yine
akşam
Göllerde bu dem bir kamış
olsam!
AT THE END OF THE DAY,
DESIRE
In the circles of my weary
eyes,
Dawn appeared like roses in
full display,
Roses like vast, magnificent
blooms,
Roses more adorned than
reeds may portray;
Alas, the day has risen,
leaving them behind!
Once again, birds from
Golden towers
Declare the repetition of life’s
decree.
Are they the birds that, each
evening, Embark on a
journey beyond our realms?
Evening, once again,
evening, evening,
A silver belt when I gaze
upon the water;
If only I could wear the
celestial sphere!
Evening, once again,
evening, evening,
In the lakes, may I be a reed
at this moment!
DESIRE AT THE END OF A
DAY
In the rings of my tired eye
It was fajr like roses,
nümayan,
Like roses… endless, big
roses
Roses that are more
horseshoe than a reed;
The day dawned sadly behind
them!
Birds again from the golden
towers
It makes your life worth
repeating, i’lan.
Are they birds that every
evening
Are they from our realms?
In the evening, again in the
evening, again in the evening
It’s a secret belt if I look at the
water;
If only I had the sky above
me!
In the evening, again in the
evening, again in the evening
If I were a reed in these lakes!
